The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced it will from Monday begin a series of power cuts to most parts of Accra and surrounding towns to enable its engineers “undertake emergency maintenance work”. Accordingly, residents will be without light for seven hours each day from December 16 to December 20 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The maintenance exercise, which the power distributor explained seeks to “improve service delivery,” will see Taifa, Dzorwulu, Kwabenya, Valley View, Oyibi and Teshie go off on Monday. Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Sunday inspected ongoing works at third medical drone delivery service site at Kukua near Walewale in the North East Region. Expected to be completed in January 2020, the facility will host the largest warehouse under the drone programme and immediately serve 60 health facilities, with an expected scale up to 500 health facilities within a 100km radius in the five northern regions by the end of 2020. Apart from the main operational facility which is 95% complete, work is also ongoing for the construction of a 22-bed housing project to house core staff nearby…
