He said his father was into politics and he had developed that niche as well growing up. To him, “I believe that everyone who buys and sells knows what goes on in politics”. He said he tries to occasionally infuse some of his concerns into the music he does. “I sing…

The three-member court sentenced him over a high treason charge that has been pending since 2013. Gen Musharraf seized power in a military coup in 1999 and served as the country’s president from 2001 to 2008. He is currently in Dubai after being allowed to leave the country for medical treatment in 2016. The charge relates to Gen Musharraf’s suspension of the constitution in 2007, when he imposed emergency rule in a move intended to extend his tenure. He issued a…

That’s speculation, that’s what people are going to say. “I’m just focusing on what’s ahead…
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed for calm as violent protests against a new law on illegal migrants entered a fifth day. There are large protests in the capital Delhi as well as in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kolkata (formerly Calcutta). On Sunday, police used tear gas and detained protesters, as buses were torched and roads blocked. The new law entitles citizenship to some non-Muslim migrants from three Muslim-majority countries. But people are divided on why they have taken to the streets. Some critics say the law is anti-Muslim, while others – especially in border regions – fear large-scale migration.…

Manchester City pushed Arsenal deeper into crisis as they won with embarrassing ease at Emirates Stadium. Kevin de Bruyne produced a first-half masterclass as Pep Guardiola’s side cruised into a three-goal lead by the interval with two superb strikes, either side of a perfect pass that laid on City’s second for Raheem Sterling’s simple finish. It was a harrowing experience for Arsenal caretaker manager Freddie Ljungberg, who was a powerless low-key presence, his minimal impact since succeeding the sacked Unai Emery reflected in a record of one win from his five matches in interim charge. Arsenal’s lack of inspiration in…
