Ghana’s Black Princesses will have to scale past their Cameroonian counterparts in a two-legged final qualifier to book a place at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The country’s U-20 women’s team beat Kenya 5-1 in Nairobi over the weekend to progress on a 10-1 aggregate win in the African qualifiers.
Priscilla Adubea’s hat-trick and goals from Olivia Anokye – in just the 2nd minute – and Ernestina Abambila ensured that the Princesses put the game beyond the reach of the East Africans at the Kenyatta Stadium. Rachel Mwema got her side’s consolation in injury time.
Adubea’s tally of eight goals makes her the leading scorer in the qualifiers.
Cameroon had had a walk-over into the final stage of qualifiers after Sierra Leone withdrew. It was the second for them as they had a walk-over on Guinea in the first round of qualifiers.
The first leg of the final qualifier is scheduled to be played in Yaounde on January 12, 2018 while Ghana host the second leg in a fortnight.
The two sides will battle for one of the two tickets for France 2018.
Nigeria and South Africa will also battle for the other ticket.
The world cup will be held from August 5 to August 24, 2018.
