The embattled chief of Bole, Bolewura Sarfo Kutuge Feso has insisted that he will celebrate the 2019 Damba festival despite a ban by the Gonja Traditional Council.
According to him, the letter containing the Yagbonwura’s purported signature banning the celebration of Damba in Bole area was fake.
The Yagbonwura has been indisposed for sometime now, he explained.
“The letter is a concocted one from some crooks in the palace of the Yagbonwura,” he claimed.
According to him, it is only the court that can ban him and not the Yagbonwura.
“If there should be any ban, it must come from court and not Yagbonwura,” he stressed.
In a 2 minutes video chief Sarfo Kutuge Feso said, the ban came to him as a surprise, the more reason he finds it difficult to accept its authenticity.
“Yagbonwura’s secretary Kapuri and his son Gafaru are behind this letter and is because they have access to Yagbonwura’s letter heads and stamps,” he alleged.
The chief argued, he was lawfully and legitimately enskinned as Bolewura after he won a case at the Northern Region House of Chiefs.
He indicated, Bole has celebrated two important festivals; Eid-ul Adha and the Yam festivals in a peaceful atmosphere.
In June this year, supporters of the two factions in the Bole skin; Chief Abubakari Abutu Yagbonwura’s Bolewura and Chief Issahaku Kant clashed during the Eid-ul Fitr celebration.
A situation which led to the lost of two lives and burning of several properties.
Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa, President of the Gonja Traditional Council in a letter, accordingly, placed a ban on the celebration of Damba Festival in the Bole traditional area.
