…Conflicted GIMPA Law School Dean indicted in Leaked Document

By Gifty Arthur

A SCANDAL of immense proportions has shaken the high echelons of power, with leaked documents implicating suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Esaaba Araba Torkornoo in a web of controversy.
Confidential papers meant for the eyes of President John Dramani Mahama and the Chief Justice have somehow landed in the public domain, shattering the veil of secrecy surrounding the proceedings.
Not content with just the leaked petitions, an alleged response from the CJ to the President surfaced barely a day after her suspension was announced, seemingly trying to sway public opinion in her favor.
An exhaustive probe has led investigators to the door of GIMPA Law School Dean Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Badu. Intriguingly, a digital breadcrumb trail linked him to the manipulated documents.
Experts noted the absence of official stamps and discreet alterations, all pointing fingers at Dr. Agyeman-Badu. His digital footprint, complete with timestamp and contact details, painted a damning picture.
A crucial piece of evidence was a timestamp on a document retyped by the Dean in a bid to conceal his involvement.
Moreover, the lack of official markings on the documents revealed an attempt to manipulate public perception. Buried within the documents’ metadata was a digital signature tracing back to Dr. Agyeman-Badu.

The conflicted Dean of the GIMPA Law School has refused to speak to the issue when contacted by the New Republic newspaper in the late mornings of yesterday.

Instead of confirming or denying his involvement, Dr. Budu, instead demanded to know the source of the allegation.
This scandal has resurfaced past controversies involving the Dean, including allegations of nepotism and unethical conduct related to a scholarship award at the Ghana School of Law back in 2012.
As the intricate saga unfolds, whispers of political interference and hidden alliances come to light, fueling the fiery controversy.
Allegations of NPP involvement and efforts to drum up support against the CJ’s suspension hint at a politically charged atmosphere. The Ghana Bar Association reportedly gears up to challenge Justice Torkornoo’s suspension, with accusations of bias and shield tactics causing a stir within the legal community.
Multiple sources within the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) have revealed plans to convene an emergency meeting aimed at passing a resolution that condemns the suspension of the Chief Justice.

According to internal communications reviewed by this TNR, the meeting is being orchestrated by senior GBA figures Efua Ghartey and Victoria Barth, reportedly in close coordination with Diana Asonaba Dapaah, the former Deputy Attorney-General, and Kow Essuman, Legal Counsel to President Nana Akufo-Addo.

A leaked document, circulated on 18 April, outlines a strategy to frame the suspension as “politically motivated” and to “present the full weight of the Bar behind the CJ.” In an effort to secure quorum and votes, sources allege that Dapaah and Essuman have contacted junior lawyers across the regions, offering to pay for transport and accommodation in exchange for attendance.

Critics within the Bar say the planned resolution risks undermining the body’s neutrality. “It’s a brazen attempt to use the Bar’s name to shield one of their own from legitimate accountability,” said a mid-level member of the GBA who asked not to be named due to professional repercussions.

The entanglement of external groups like the Christian Mothers Association of Ghana, coupled with partisan statements, further complicates the already contentious issue. Stay tuned as the gripping legal drama plays out in the heart of justice.
