The tranquility of Ketu South has been shattered, leaving over 500 residents homeless in the wake of relentless tidal waves.
In a show of solidarity, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Nicholas Kwabla Worlachie has extended his deepest sympathies to the ravaged communities, pledging an immediate and robust government intervention to assuage their suffering.
During a poignant visit to the hardest-hit areas, MCE Worlachie unveiled plans for the urgent temporary relocation of those displaced to safer havens.
He underscored the critical need for speed, confirming that the Assembly is working hand-in-glove with the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to deliver essential relief supplies and pinpoint suitable sites for temporary shelters.
This swift action aims to shield victims from further peril as the community mobilizes for long-term recovery.
The MCE also confronted the elephant in the room: the stalled second phase of the Blekusu Sea Defence Project.
Acknowledging the palpable frustration of residents who have tirelessly campaigned for its completion, Worlachie assured the public that the NDC government, under President John Dramani Mahama, is committed to fast-tracking the project.
Its completion is not just a plea; it’s a lifeline against the relentless onslaught of coastal erosion and tidal waves.
In heartfelt exchanges with community members, MCE Worlachie lauded their indomitable spirit and reaffirmed the Assembly’s unwavering dedication to supporting them through this harrowing ordeal.
He implored residents to cooperate with local authorities and relief agencies to ensure aid reaches those most in need and safety measures are effectively implemented.

Echoing the MCE’s sentiments, Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, emphatically stated that the government has not, and will not, forget the plight of the affected residents.
He reiterated the NDC administration’s steadfast commitment to completing the sea defence project and implementing comprehensive plans to address the multifaceted challenges posed by coastal erosion and tidal waves.
