Management of the University of Ghana has warned students to strictly adhere to the ban on holding events on campus.

The ban was instituted in August 2022 following the violent clash between two traditional halls on campus – Commonwealth and Sarbah Halls.

As the students return to campus after the Christmas break to begin a new academic year, the Registrar of the University of Ghana, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah reminded students of the ban.

“No events are to be held without the express approval of the Dean of Student Affairs,” she said in a communiqué dated January 2, 2023.

The university also said no outside bodies are permitted to hold functions on the university’s campuses without the written approval of management.

“These directives will be strictly enforced, and any infractions will be met with appropriate sanctions.”

REMINDER: BAN ON HOLDING OF EVENTS AND GATHERINGS

As the 2022/2023 academic year starts, Management of the University welcomes all students back to school.

We remind students that the ban on all student events and gatherings, as announced by the Dean of Student Affairs in August 2022, is still in place. No events are to be held without the express approval of the Dean of Student Affairs.

Additionally, until further notice, no outside bodies are permitted to hold functions on the University’s campuses without the written approval of the
Vice-Chancellor or the Registrar or their representatives

‘These directives will be strictly enforced, and any infractions will be met with appropriate sanctions.

Management wishes all students a productive and peaceful academic year.
