Ntim-Fordjour dragged before Police CID over GH₵600,000 contract fraud

John Ntim-Fordjour, the 38-year-old Member of Parliament (MP) for the Assin South Constituency in the Central Region, has once again found himself on the wrong side of the law, over allegations of cash-for-contract fraud.

A Ghanaian businessman, Sylvester Agyen of Sakumono in Accra, has formally petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters of the Ghana Police Service , seeking assistance in recovering an outstanding sum of GH₵200,000, allegedly owed to him by three individuals, including the MP.

In the petition, dated February 24, 2025, Mr Agyen, claims he was defrauded of GH₵600,000 by Edmond Oppong-Peprah, Eric Yeboah, and Reverend John Ntim-Fordjou,r under the pretext of securing him a government contract to construct an AstroTurf pitch in the Central Region.

The petition, intercepted by The Herald, was addressed to the Director General of the CID.

Mr Agyen, alleges that the trio contacted him on March 30, 2024, offering to facilitate the award of the said contract for a fee.

Believing the offer to be genuine, he transferred the full amount to the individuals involved. However, several months passed without any progress or the issuance of a formal contract.

“After three months of waiting, I made enquiries in the Central Region and was shocked to discover that no such contract existed,” he stated in his petition addressed to the Director-General of the CID.

Following this revelation, Mr Agyen, said he confronted the individuals, who reportedly agreed to refund the money. However, only GH₵400,000 has been reimbursed to date, leaving an outstanding balance of GH₵200,000.

“I have made several efforts to contact them, but they have refused to answer my calls or respond to my messages. They have even blocked me, making it extremely difficult to retrieve the rest of my money,” the businessman lamented.

He is now calling on the CID to investigate the matter and compel the alleged perpetrators to refund the remaining amount.

Efforts to reach the individuals named in the petition for comment, have so far been unsuccessful.

Reverend John Ntim-Fordjour, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, served as Deputy Minister of Education in the Akufo-Addo administration.

In April 2025, Rev. Ntim-Fordjour, raised concerns about two foreign aircraft—AirMed Flight N823AM and a Cavok Antonov 12vk—landing in Ghana under unexplained circumstances. He claimed the flights were linked to illicit activities, including drug trafficking and money laundering, and called for a thorough investigation.

His claims were met with scepticism and criticism. Officials associated with the Mahama administration, accused him of fabricating the story for political gain, while retired security expert, Colonel Festus Aboagye, challenged him to provide concrete evidence to substantiate his allegations.

Despite the backlash, Rev. Ntim-Fordjour, has stood by his assertions, insisting that his concerns are genuine and deserve official scrutiny.

He is the Senior Pastor of Victory Bible Church International (VBCI), Higher Heights Sanctuary, located in East Legon, Accra.
