The three suspects have been remanded to appear again on September 4

The Police in Accra have retrieved one AK-47 riffle and 19 of the 20 rounds of ammunition stolen from the Akporman-Manna Police post at Adenta in Accra.

Three persons, who the police say stole the weapon, have been arrested.

Frank Dogboe who was the first suspect to be arrested on August 16, led the police to retrieve the riffle and 19 of the 20 rounds of stolen ammunition wrapped in a black polyethylene from a bush at Amaria near Teiman.

He again led to police to arrest two others, Bernard Omagu Barrack and Buukari Adamu on August 19.

Bernard Omagu Barrack and Bukari Adamu, in their caution statement admitted selling the stolen weapon to one Selasie for 5,000 cedis but received 3,000 cedis as part payment.

But the police on Thursday, August 22 put the three suspects before the Kwabenya District Magistrate Court on charges of unlawful entry and stealing.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges and have been remanded to appear again on September 4.

The disappearance of the riffle led to the interdiction of two officers, Superintendent Edward Tetteh, the Abokobi/Ayimensah District Commander and C/Inspector Christopher Bekor, the Akporman Manna station officer.

The acting IGP, who interdicted the two officers two weeks ago, further directed the Police Professional and Standard Bureau (PPSB) to investigate the conduct of the officers.
