Asante Kotoko suffered their second consecutive away defeat in the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday after being beaten 3-1 by Zambia’s Nkana FC.
The match was the third for the two sides in Group C.
Kotoko had lost 0-1 to Al-Hilal in Sudan in their first group game.
The Zambians drew first blood after striker Freddy Tshimenga converted from the spot in what looked like an infringement outside the penalty box.
But just a couple of minutes later, striker Songne Yacouba converted a set piece to restore parity.
The home side restored their lead through striker Ronald Kampamba, who capitalised on a defensive error by the visitors.
Just eight minutes after the second half, Kampamba headed home his second to double the lead for Nkana FC at the Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
The score stayed the same and the South Africans maintained their unbeaten home record in continental competitions.
Sunday’s result sends them to the top of the group while the Ghanaians drop to the bottom as ZESCO United drew 1-1 with Sudan’s Al-Hilal at the Ndola stadium in the other group game.
The return legs will be played on Saturday.
