The Office of the President has officially written to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to continue serving two more years.
This follows recommendation by the Police Council and in accordance with relevant provisions governing the administration of the Ghana Police Service.
IGP Yohuno was scheduled to proceed on retirement in December when he attains the statutory age.
But President John Dramani Mahama is convinced the IGP must stay on to consolidate the gains made within the law enforcement agency.
“Your re-engagement takes effect from 28th December, 2025,” a letter signed by Secretary to the President Dr Callistus Mahama on Tuesday, November 25 said.
“During this period, you shall continue to serve as Inspector General of Police and discharge the duties and responsibilities attached to the office. “
According to the letter, the IGP’s continued leadership is essential to sustaining ongoing reforms, strengthening operational effectiveness, and ensuring stability within the Service at this critical time.
