The Ghana Police Service has arrested two additional suspects linked to the robbery of a jewellery shop at Adabraka, recovering a cache of arms, ammunition and other exhibits during a targeted operation.
The arrests were carried out on January 7, 2026, by the Office of the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector-General of Police, following intelligence-led operations in Ashaiman. The suspects have been identified as Hamza Agerego, also known as Nene Bawku or Lambert, and Alhassan Elliasu, popularly called Arab Man.
Police said Hamza Agerego was initially arrested and detained at the Katamanso District Police Headquarters in connection with the robbery. Further intelligence subsequently led officers to Ashaiman, where a separate operation resulted in the arrest of Alhassan Elliasu at his hideout.
A search conducted at the premises uncovered a significant haul of weapons and related items. Exhibits retrieved include two pump-action guns, 43 rounds of AK47 ammunition, 239 BB cartridges, four bulletproof vests, two cutlasses, a black boot, a black face mask, and a CCTV monitor. Officers also recovered two Samsung mobile phones, an iPhone 13 and a wristwatch.
Police described the recovery as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks linked to violent robberies in Accra and its environs.
Both suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations. The Police Service said they will be arraigned before court to face charges in accordance with the law, as investigations into the Adabraka jewellery shop robbery continue.
