The police have arrested two of the seven inmates, who escaped from the Kwabenya Police Station on Sunday after a raid by some armed men.

Attah Kwadwo, 20, and Prince Osei, 27, were arrested at Worawora in the Volta Region on Tuesday.

Two of the men who stormed the police station to aid the escape of the seven persons have also been arrested. They were arrested on Tuesday.

Three other persons including a 28-year-old woman by name Nancy Bentaa have also been arrested by the police to aid in investigations.

All these were disclosed by the Inspector General of Police, David Asante Apeatu, on Thursday when he gave the press a progress report on efforts put in by his outfit to fish out the escapees and the men who broke into the police station.

This comes a couple of days after police debunked reports that all the fugitives bar the Nigerian have been arrested.

The IGP assured that the rest of the fugitives will be arrested

The raid by the armed men on Sunday dawn left one officer – Inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi – dead.

Coffins, skeletons found!

IGP Asante Apeatu told journalists that among the persons arrested to aid investigations is one Kofi Acheampong, who is said to be the spiritual father of the suspects.

Coffins and skeletons were found at his hideout in Afienya, the senior-most police officer said.

“A lot of intelligence have been gathered and they are being processed by a specialised team of investigators,” he said.

“We are therefore confident of arresting all the fugitives and all persons connected to their escape and murder of Inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi,” he assured.

A GH¢15,000 bounty has been put on the head of the rest of the suspects.

They are Nigerian Chibuzor Akwabu, 34, and Ghanaians Dickson Ofori, 24, Edem Rockson, 32, Emmanuel Kotey, 21, and Kofi Darko, 21.
