The items, valued at about GHC10, 000, are to support the Hospital to ensure that the patients on admission have an enjoyable Christmas celebration.
It was made up of bags of rice, gari and sugar, cartons of non-alcoholic drinks, gallons of cooking oil, packs of toilet rolls and disinfectants.
“We are here to present these items to the patients of the Psychiatric Hospital. This is our contribution towards enjoyable Christmas,” MD of Pure Eden Microfinance, Mrs. Joan Yvonne Apedo said.
She assured the Hospital of the caucus’ continuous support in acknowledgement of its immense contribution to mental healthcare in the country, saying, “more of this will come, then a lot of them will receive healing and then they would get back home quickly”.
Managing Director of Jire Microfinance Limited, Mrs Akorfa Ahiafor, said they decided to support the Hospital partly because of the challenges it has been facing in recent times, especially in feeding the patients.
“They have been in the media for sometime about how much they lack and we decided to fill in the gap,” she said.
Mrs. Ahiafor indicated they have not only been offering financial services and advice to clients but also have corporate social responsibilities.
“Beyond providing financial services we also help other people. It’s part of our business,” she stated.
Receiving the items, the Deputy Director of Nursing Services at the Hospital, Ms. Beatrice Nyarko thanked the Executive Women in Microfinance for their gesture which she said would “put a smile on the face of the patients” this Christmas.
“We are very grateful, you could have chosen to go to any other place but you decided to help us celebrate the Christmas in a very grand style, we are so grateful” she said.
She prayed that God replenishes their pockets to be able to continue to do more for the patients at the Hospital.
