US President Donald Trump has said he is going to halt funding to the World Health Organization (WHO) because it has “failed in its basic duty” in its response to the coronavirus outbreak. Nigeria has recorded its biggest one-day rise in coronavirus cases after confirming 30 new cases on Tuesday. The country has so far confirmed a total of 373 cases including 11 deaths. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had announced 19 new cases of the virus then added a further 11, one hour after the first announcement. Inspector General of Police (IGP) James Oppong-Boanuh has blamed the stiff posture of the security services at various checkpoints enforcing the lockdown directives on recalcitrant citizens. Ghana’s Trades Union Congress (TUC) has cancelled all activities planned for this year’s International Workers’ Day of Solidarity, May Day. The activities would have been climaxed in Accra on Friday, May 1. Staff of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (GARH) who were put under mandatory quarantine after coming into contact with Nana Osei Boansi Kuffuor, father of popular musician Obour, have all tested negative. Awaiting a test on coronavirus, Nana Boansi Kuffour, whose travel history is said to have been concealed from management of GARH by his family, died at the facility. He died on Friday, March 27. His test results later came out positive, according to officials, prompting an immediate shutdown of the emergency unit of the Hospital while all the staff who came into contact with the deceased were quarantined.…
