Ghana’s U-17 women’s soccer team has touched down in Montevideo, Uruguay for the upcoming FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup. The Black Maidens have been camped in neighbouring Brazil for their pre-tournament training camp. They jetted to the host country on Thursday in readiness for the opening game of the tournament. Ghana will play the hosts, Uruguay, in Group A and with New Zealand and Finland as well. The tournament begins on Tuesday, November 13 and scheduled to end on Saturday, December 1. Kenya’s Football Federation (FKF) has condemned a Confederation of African Football (Caf) decision to reinstate Equatorial Guinea to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. They say they are “profoundly astonished” by the move, which represents “a great injustice” and plan an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas). Equatorial Guinea had been excluded by Caf in October for fielding an ineligible player. Ghana Premier League club Hearts of Oak have appointed former Black Stars player Kim Grant as the new coach of the senior side. Grant will also assume the role as the Director of Football for the club, taking charge of all technical aspects including the youth teams. Grant will officially begin work on Saturday, December 1.
