Gabon’s opposition leader Jean Ping has again claimed victory in elections held in 2016, as President Ali Bongo is being treated in a hospital abroad. Speaking in Libreville, Mr Ping urged the nation to overcome its divisions and rally around a common ideal. Government has named its members for the Governing Council of the Kwame Nkrumah Science and Technology (KNUST) to be reconstituted by Chancellor Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Government missed a Wednesday, October 31 deadline to submit its representatives. All the other parties had made the names available to the Chancellor, who was expected to reconstitute the Council on Friday. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told the US he considered murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi to be a dangerous Islamist, media reports say. The country’s health authorities along with the World Health Organization have taken the decision because of the threat of the spread of Ebola from neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo.
