The National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) has disclosed that it had made available some safety proposals to the Ghana Highways Authority (GHA) to help in the construction of the George Walker Bush Highway but all were ignored. Google has launched an ad-blocker for its Chrome web browser that is designed to prevent “annoying” and “intrusive” ads being shown to users. Google announced the move to curtail full-page and auto-playing video ads, among others, last year. The choice of which ads to block will be determined by the Coalition for Better Ads (CBA) – made up of companies including Google and Facebook. Ghana are one of the three African nations that dropped out of the top 50 in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday. Ghana dropped to 54th from the 50th placing last month. African champions Cameroon and Burkina Faso are the other nations to have dropped out of that bracket. Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn has resigned unexpectedly, saying he hoped to end years of unrest and political upheaval. In a televised address, he said his resignation was “vital in the bid to carry out reforms that would lead to sustainable peace and democracy”. He was the only candidate nominated by parliament, which is dominated by his African National Congress. MPs broke into song at the announcement. The government of Ghana is to lose a tax revenue of GH¢47.90 million on petroleum by the passage of the Special Petroleum Tax Amendment Bill 2018 on Thursday. ‘Dangerous Highway’ is a comprehensive road safety documentary that focuses on the George Walker Bush Highway in Accra six years after it was opened to the public. The six-lane George Walker Bush Highway of 14.1 km links the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange to Mallam Junction.
