The Embassy of the State of Israel in Ghana has expressed regret over Ghana’s vote at the Special United Nation General Assembly sitting on Thursday. Ghana was among 128 nations that voted against the United States’ decision to move its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem at the sitting. Nine nations including Ghana’s neighbours Togo voted in favour of the move while 35 abstained. Twenty-one nations were absent. A plane carrying 25 people came off the runway after landing, forcing the suspension of flights in and out of Bristol Airport. The Embraer 145 aircraft, from Frankfurt, left the runway as it taxied to the terminal just after 11:30 GMT. “No-one was hurt and passengers were disembarked and returned to the terminal by coach,” a spokesman said. Currently, 45 arriving flights and 28 departures have been cancelled or diverted to other airports. The United Nations Security Council has voted to impose tougher sanctions on North Korea in response to its recent ballistic missile tests. The US-drafted resolution includes measures to reduce the nation’s petrol imports by up to 90%. China, North Korea’s main trading partner, voted in favour of the resolution. The country is already subject to a raft of sanctions from the US, the UN and the EU.
