US-based Ghanaian inventor Dr Thomas Mensah says he has started engaging concerned ministers to ensure the construction of high-speed trains in Ghana. Dr Mensah said he was directed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to talk to the sector ministers in getting the idea into fruition. The first aid flights since the Saudi-led coalition imposed a blockade on rebel-held areas three weeks ago have landed in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa. They include a UN flight carrying 1.9m doses of vaccines, Meritxell Relano, Unicef representative in Yemen tweeted. Three more aircraft carrying UN aid workers and International Red Cross staff have also arrived, AFP reports. Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on behalf of government donated GH¢5,000 to the family of the late Kwadwo Asare Baffour Acheampong (KABA) for the one-week celebration. Students from all health training collages in the Upper East Region on Friday hit the road not to demonstrate but pour out their gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over the restoration of their allowances. Zimbabwe’s new President Emmerson Mnangagwa has pledged to re-engage the country with the world, following the dramatic departure of Robert Mugabe. In his inauguration speech, Mr Mnangagwa sought to reassure foreign investors to attract badly needed funds to revive Zimbabwe’s failing economy. The Achimota student, who was jailed three years by a Juvenile Court for shooting his friend Lily Asibete to death at Tema, has appealed against his sentence. The student, according to court processes, held that the sentence of the Juvenile Court was harsh hence the appeal. When the matter was called at an Accra High Court, presided over by Mr Justice J. K. Dorgu, an Attorney from the Attorney’s General Department told the court that they have not been served with the court processes. The matter was therefore adjourned to December 12. There was drama in Parliament on Friday when the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency brought in a gas cylinder for analysis in his submission to the debate on the 2018 budget statement. The Minority was alarmed about the MP’s action since the cylinder could have contained Liquified Petroleum Gas, LPG. George Duker stoked controversy when he used the gas cylinder in his demonstration of the LPG recycling module.
