Bologna and Ghana midfielder Godfred Donsah says he is “100%” willing to go on strike to show solidarity with Sulley Muntari. Pescara midfielder Muntari, 32, was given a one-game ban after he protested against racist abuse he received from the crowd at Cagliari on Sunday. The Serie A disciplinary committee said not enough fans took part in the abuse to trigger action against Cagliari. Donsah, 20, said racism is “killing the beauty of the game”. Former Ghana international Muntari was booked for dissent after asking the referee to stop Sunday’s match in the wake of the abuse. He then walked off the pitch in protest – for…
The bodies of female shop mannequins are “unrealistic”, a new study in the Journal of Eating Disorders suggests. Researchers looked at the displays in female fashion shops in two UK cities. They concluded that if people were the same size as the mannequins they would be “considered medically unhealthy”. “There is clear evidence showing that the ultra-thin ideal is contributing to the development of mental health problems and eating disorders,” writes Dr Eric Robinson, the study’s author. After being “perplexed by the dimensions of the mannequins” he saw while out on a shopping trip one day, Dr Robinson has told Newsbeat that he…

He denied that the country was a fragile state. “We have over 14 universities and our literacy rate is over 90 [%] – the highest in Africa,” he said, adding that the economy was improving. Zimbabwe has been struggling to pay its civil servants recently and is ranked 24th on the UNDP’s Human Development Index for Africa. “We have more resources, perhaps more than the average country in the world.” Mr Mugabe said, during a panel discussion on fragile states at the World…

The National Organizer of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, has discounted media reports that state transporter Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL) is on the heels of the NDC over buses the party rented whilst in government. The party is alleged to have failed to pay for the services the company rendered it. But Mr. Adams says (in Twi) “we don’t owe Metro Mass that amount of money and I think they [MMT] must even balance us because we have paid them the amount we owe”. Media reports on Thursday suggested MMT had issued a pro forma invoice to the NDC after it had lost the general elections on December 7, revealing the…
