The Supreme Court has rejected a plea by businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome to pay the 46 million cedis he owes the state in instalment. The legal team of Woyome told the Supreme Court Wednesday morning that their client was ready to pay Gh¢10million now and Gh¢4milllion every three months. Counsel for Woyome, Muda Adelawal, therefore moved an application for the court to halt the execution of its judgement in 2014 which ordered Woyome to pay the money. The Supreme Court has directed the Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu and the Attorney General to effectively collaborate to retrieve judgment debt illegally paid to Waterville. Martin Amidu dragged the Attorney General to the apex court stating that the AG is not putting in effort to retrieve the €47m from the defaulter. Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah says Nigeria did not err in closing its western land borders countries in the ecowas sub-region. The Minister said the only way to get Nigeria open the border is through diplomacy because there is no law forbidding Nigeria from closing its borders. At least 27 people have lost their lives in the Upper East Region after a downpour on Tuesday. About 19 residents who got injured are receiving treatment at various health facilities. Over 600 residents have also been displaced and are now putting up in mosques, churches and schools.
