A-38-year-old man has been arrested by residents of Sabonjida in Tamale for allegedly attempting to kidnap a 5-year-old girl and handed over to the Police in the Northern Region. Police in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region have arrested a 49-year-old Dong Tazaa for allegedly transporting substances suspected to be Indian hemp. The substances, wrapped in 15 black polyethylene bags, were concealed in two travelling bags in a vehicle he was travelling in. A former Goldman Sachs banker, Ellias Preko, who helped the former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, to hide funds in offshore accounts has been ordered to pay back £7.3m or face 10 years more in jail. Preko, a 60-year-old Ghanaian had been convicted and jailed for four and a half years back in 2013 for his role in the fraud. The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Emmanuel Sin-Nyet Asigri, and his two deputies Bright Acheampong and Richard Ebbah Obeng have been sacked. This was contained in a letter signed by the Youth and Sports minister, Isaac Asiamah. “I regret to inform you that the President of the Republic has terminated your appointment,” the letter dated September 3, 2019 read.
