Their impact on society has been phenomenal, yet most of these heroes and heroines remained in the shadows until Sunday night when 2019 Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageant contestants shone light on them. It was a night dedicated to celebrate some 16 heroes and heroines whose sacrifices, selflessness, dedication and benevolence gave life and dignity to most people within and beyond the communities they live. Each of the 16 beautiful contestants for this year’s GMB had the honour of identifying an individual, from their respective communities within the region they represent, who they consider as hero or heroine and why. Most…

A defeated Member of Parliament in the just ended primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Aowin Constituency of the Western North Region, Mathias Kwame Ntow, has expressed satisfaction with the development he has brought to the constituency so far. He said most of the people in the constituency wanted him give them monies directly but he preferred using the money for the benefit of the entire constituency. The hit video game World of Warcraft (WoW) is going back to basics with the launch of WoW Classic this evening. First released in 2004, the online multi-player game has evolved and changed dramatically over the years. While not identical to the original, WoW Classic will replicate a majority of the features from the first game. World of Warcraft is a fantasy game in which players roam the virtual world, fighting monsters and completing quests. Blizzard said some players…
A state of emergency has been declared in Sudan’s Red Sea state after ethnic violence left at least 16 people dead. The country’s new interim government has also dismissed the governor of the eastern state and the regional security chief. It is not clear what caused the clashes, which raged between the Bani Amer and Nuba groups in Port Sudan from Wednesday until Saturday. For the first time firearms had been used, suggesting there had been internal and external interference to fuel the conflict, the government statement said. Port Sudan is the capital of Red Sea state and is an…

The fourth Republic (from 1992 to present) has seen about 24 political parties registered in the country. By law, these parties are regulated by the Political Parties Act 574 which was passed in 2000. It is interesting to note that political groups with interesting names like Every Ghanaian Living Everywhere Party (EGLE) and the Ghana Redevelopment Party (GRP) were once in existence. But they were and presently are, for a calculated purpose aside the usual pursuit for power – they were either formed, or chipped off from existing parties, with an aim of breaking the monotonous rule of the New…

Ashanti Region’s representative for this year’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful television pageant Serwaa, put up a great performance on the maiden live show Sunday, to emerge the star performer for the week. She shrugged off competition from 15 others, most of who equally put in their best, to demonstrate they are in the competition not only to enjoy the fame, but to grab the covetous crown, the car and the cash prize. Serwaa mounted the stage with vim and vigour as though she was ready for battle like the warrior she celebrated on the night as her heroine, Yaa Asantewaa, the…
