The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has raised concerns over what it termed was the level of opulence and profligacy displayed by some candidates in the first round of the National Democratic Congress’ primaries on Saturday. Fire has swept through a five bedroom house at Odeneho Kwadaso in Kumasi, destroying the entire building Sunday morning. No casualties were recorded but the occupants have been displaced. The timely intervention of fire personnel prevented the fire from extending to other houses around. The fire, which started around 7:00am, destroyed property estimated worth thousands of cedis. It took fire fighters several hours to douse the fire but could not savage personal belongings and household appliances in the building. Operatives of Nigeria’s National Agency for the Prohibition in Trafficking of Persons (NAPTIP) have arrested a man accused of being involved in kidnapping Ghanaian girls to Nigeria. The suspect Chika Nnodim is believed to be part of a cross border criminal gang including kidnapping and have been under security watch list of the government of Nigeria and Ghana.
