The Catholic Diocese of Yendi has commissioned a 64-bed capacity girls’ hostel for the St. Vincent College of Education. The project, funded by the Catholic Mission of Australia at a cost of 350,960 cedis, is to help the College decongest its female dormitory. Started as a private College in 2016, the teacher trainee institution was absorbed by government the same year. A 1.491 million-cedi compensation package has been presented to the families of four persons who were killed and 32 others injured in a police shooting incident at Atwima Kwanwoma District of Ashanti region. The four, Douglas Addae, Prince Boateng, Kojo Ofori and Kwaku Seth were on Wednesday, February 7, 2017 killed by the Police at Atwima-Foase when a protest over the sitting of a new district capital for the District turned violent. Officials in western Kenya have exhumed the body of a local man to strip him of the uniform he was buried in, according to reports. Martin Shikuku Alukoye was buried in his full Kakamega County Youth Service uniform after drowning this month. Local officials then exhumed the body to retrieve the uniform, despite opposition from his family.
