Government has signed an agreement with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization(UNIDO) aimed at boosting industrial development, trade and export competitiveness in Ghana. The over 27 million euro programme is scheduled to be implemented from 2019 to 2022 and will also help Ghana leverage additional investment by facilitating the mobilisation of partners and resources to achieve larger development impact. The Country Programme (CP) which will constitute the reference framework for UNIDO technical cooperation activities with Ghana, is aligned with the National Development Agenda including Ghana beyond aid, vision 2020 and focuses on high growth potential sectors to achieve the SDGs.…

President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed private legal practitioner Dr Alexander Y. Adusei Jr as Director for Keta Port. Transport Minister Kwaku Ofori Asiama who announced the appointment in a letter dated March 19, 2019 asked the Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority to “take the necessary action to give effect” to the appointment. Government in April last year signed an agreement with Diamond Cement Ghana Limited to begin the construction of a port at Keta in the Volta Region. The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has objected to the idea of re-registration of voters, and asked the Electoral Commission to use data from the National Identification Authority to compile a new voters’ register. MPs have rejected Theresa May’s EU withdrawal agreement on the day the UK was due to leave the EU. The government lost by 344 votes to 286, a margin of 58. It means the UK has missed an EU deadline to delay Brexit to 22 May and leave with a deal. The prime minister said the UK would have to find “an alternative way forward”, which was “almost certain” to involve holding European elections.
