A total of 90 senior police officers across the country have been transferred by the Inspector General of Police David Asante-Apeatu, to take up new duty posts. Their reassignment from their current duty posts takes effect from February 6, a document signed by the IGP stated. Six people have been killed by a gas explosion in an abandoned coal mine in South Africa, the national broadcaster is reporting. About 20 others are still trapped at the Gloria coal mine in Middelburg, east of the capital, Pretoria. A police spokesman said some people had gone into the mine to steal copper wires when a gas pipe exploded. The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) has observed that the quality of the audited accounts of some political parties it has received as required by law do not meet international standards.
