Ebony’s latest banger ‘Maame Hwe’ seems to have caught on with a lot of kids, particularly those who showed up for the Greater Accra Region audition of TV3’s reality show Talented Kidz. The two-day audition, which started Friday, saw almost all the auditioning bands performing ‘Maame Hwe’. One after the other, the bands served judges with the song with a few doing their own renditions as they sang and danced to the tune. The Minority Members on the five-member ad hoc committee looking into the ‘cash-for-seat’ saga have issued a counter report faulting the Trade and Industry Ministry for unethically profiting from the presence of the president in an event. The 33-page report said the Ministry of Trade and Industry contravened existing law on public financial management, particularly the Financial Administration Regulations, by allowing the use of an existing account for the receipt of monies that it claimed were private funds. Fourteen persons died on the spot Thursday night at Anyinam in the Eastern Region when a passenger vehicle collided head on with a truck in an accident said to have been caused by a reckless overtaking. The Volta River Authority (VRA) has allayed fears of electricity cuts in the country following the shutdown of the Jubilee FPSO Thursday for routine maintenance. The three-week shutdown of the FPSO is the first of three planned shutdowns in 2018 to allow engineers carry out general maintenance arising out of recent challenges faced by the vessel.
