The Ghana captain came on in the second half and converted a spot-kick to draw the Turkish side level on 2-2 in the 83rd minute. Three minutes later, Gyan was on target again to give his side the lead before Welliton scored in injury time to seal the…

Russia has retaliated to new US sanctions by telling Washington to cut its diplomatic staff to 455 and barring the use of some properties. The Russian foreign ministry also said it was seizing holiday properties and a warehouse used by US diplomats. The new US sanctions were drawn up in part to punish Russia further for annexing Crimea from Ukraine in 2014. They come months after the administration of President Barack Obama ordered the seizure of two Russian diplomatic compounds and expelled 35 Russian…
The Member of Parliament for Zabzugu Constituency in the Northern Region has advised the government to start engaging the neighbouring countries on the fight against armyworm invasion in Ghana. Alhassan Umar is of the view that if the government is able to contain the situation, its efforts would be wasted since the armyworms could spread back into the country. “Are you working with our neigbouring countries? We have to work toward prevention than cure”, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP suggested on TV3 New Day hosted by Bright Nana Amfoh on Friday. Mr. Umar was contributing to a discussion on the…

Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe, 93, has been urged by his wife to name his successor in order to end divisions over who the next leader will be. The president should not be “afraid” to choose his heir and his word would be “final”, Grace Mugabe said. Mr Mugabe is the world’s oldest ruler, and his Zanu-PF party has nominated him to stand for re-election next year. But rival factions have been vying to strengthen their position as concern about his health mounts. Mr Mugabe looks increasingly frail, and has been on three medical trips to Singapore this year. However, his…
