Newly appointed ambassador Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama has justified his new role, saying it is a call of duty to serve the nation. Dr Mahama was among 22 ambassadors sworn in on Monday by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He is one of the two ambassadors-at-large sworn in. The other is Rasheed Seidu Inusah. The Peoples National Convention (PNC) is to sanction the party’s 2016 flagbearer, Dr. Edward Nasigri Mahama for accepting an appointment from President Akufo-Addo without the approval of the party. The audiovisual recording device in the office of the Lands and Natural Resources Minister could have been planted there by persons against his fight against illegal mining (galamsey), security expert Dr. Kwesi Aning has suggested. It is not known when the minister John Peter Amewu’s office was bugged, but the Bureau of National Investigations has commenced investigations into the matter. South African wildlife rangers are searching for four male lions that escaped from a national park. The lions escaped from Kruger National Park on Sunday night and were last seen in the village of Matsulu, South African National Parks said in a statement. It warned residents to “exercise extra caution”. It is not yet clear how the lions escaped from the park, which is largely fenced off.
