The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) is being accused of a cover up in its investigations into the controversial sale of some five million litres of contaminated fuel by the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST). BOST and its MD have been criticised for the sale of the contaminated fuel Movenpiina, a company which was said to be be unlicenced at the time that the deal was brokered. The number of illegal miners trapped in collapsed pit at Nsuta in the Western region has shot up to 17 from the original number of 14 that was earlier reported. This was confirmed by one of the miners who managed to make his way out before the pit collapsed on his colleagues whom he said numbered 17. Textile workers are threatening to picket this week if government does not stop the influx of imported textiles. The Trades ministry had earlier promised a June 30 deadline to come out with guidelines to regulate the importation of textiles into the Ghana.
