Ghana’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) has declared war against political vigilantism that has permeated the country’s body politics and threatening its security. The IGP, David Asante Appeatu, who has arrived in the Ashanti Regional Capital, Kumasi with a special anti-terrorist squad to beef up security in the region, warned miscreant riding on the back of political vigilante groups to cease forthwith, TV3’s William Evans-Nkum reports. Two Ghanaian parliamentarians, Sarah Adwoa Safo and Osei Bonsu Amoah, have resigned from the Pan African Parliament and ECOWAS Parliament respectively. The resignation was prompted by their appointment as ministers Minister of Procurement and Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Per the protocol and rules of the ECOWAS Parliament, an Executive member of government is not required to represent a country at thatParliament. Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila has appointed Bruno Tshibala as the new prime minister of the power-sharing government. Mr Tshibala will be leader until presidential elections later this year. He was expelled from Congo’s largest opposition party, the UDPS, last month after contesting the designation of successors to veteran leader Etienne Tshisekedi who died in February. Mr Tshibala’s appointment is likely to further divide Mr Kabila’s opponents. Talks to negotiate his exit from power broke down last week. The Australian High Commission in Ghana will this morning hold an education fair in Accra to provide opportunity for Ghanaian students to find out more about study opportunities in Australia. Police in northern India are searching lists of missing children to try to identify a girl believed to have been living with monkeys. The little girl, aged between eight and 10, was found a few weeks ago in a forest in Uttar Pradesh. Doctors said she could not communicate and displayed “monkey-like” traits. The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga has been given a stern warning by the Speaker of Parliament to “go and sin no more” following his unsubstantiated corruption allegation against parliament.
