Deputy Works and Housing Minister Barbara Asher Ayisi and Deputy Communications Minister George Nenyi Andah have both retained their positions as parliamentary candidates for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The former Deputy Minister of Education polled 199 votes in her party’s primaries in the Cape Coast North Constituency on Saturday to emerge winner.
She beat closest contender Lawrence Ampah by 49 votes. Joseph Thomas Baidoo (63) and Philip Longdon (26) were the other contenders.
Mrs Asher Ayisi was declared winner by the Metropolitan Director of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC), Richard Asenso.
Mr Andah, on the other hand, polled 438 votes out of a total of 630 votes to beat his only contender, Joseph Aidoo, in the Awutu Senya West Constituency.
The elections in that constituency is said to have been very peaceful.
Mr Andah will fight to retain the seat for the NPP in the December 7 elections, all things being equal, and he will face contest from Gizela Tetteh, the sister of his predecessor, former Foreign Affairs Minister Hannah Tetteh.
Still in the Central Region on the NPP primaries, three incumbent Members of Parliament lost their seats.
Nana Amoakoh lost in the Upper Denkyira East elections while Anthony Effah lost in Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa Constituency.
Abraham Dwuma Odoom is also said to have lost the Twifo-Atti-Morkwa Constituency NPP primaries.
