Photos: One huge cake, 20 champagnes end Week 7 of GMB 2017

For two weeks running, eight elegant ladies escaped eviction in this year’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful reality show. Could it be a birthday gift from TV3, Ghana’s leading free-to-air television station as it turns 20 on October 1, 2017?

After enthralling performances from the brilliant ladies, viewers were left on tenterhooks, uncomfortably dreading who and who would be axed from Ghana’s most watched reality show – GMB Season 11.

It was an engaging night of  folktales dished out by the eight distinguished ladies, to expectant audiences in TV3’s Studio B and thousands across the globe at the end of Week 7.

With costumes to match, the contestants told engaging stories largely centered on greed, selfishness, fraud, cheating on nature, and untruthfulness.

After Week 6 produced no eviction, it automatically registered on the minds of patrons that eviction was inevitable on Week 7. But it was a great relief to many after it became clear that all the girls were safe and have got a lot show next week.

This calls for a celebration of course. Double celebrations for that matter. Whilst the ladies and their supporters leap with joy and thanked their stars for a safe evening, TV3 management, staff and partners were full of gratitude to God for tortuous but rewarding 20 years of broadcasting excellence.

Pearl Esua-Mensah, Group Chief Executive Officer of Media General, owners of TV3, was joined by her management staff to cut a cake to celebrate TV3’s 20th anniversary. Lining behind them were the crème de la crème of the entertainment industry with the president of MUSIGA Bice Osei Kuffour (Obuor),  president of Ghana Actors Guild, Samuel Fiscian and Confession hit maker Kofi Kinaata leading the pack to pop 20 champagnes to cap activities for the night.

Awards

As usual, ladies who excelled among their peers took home hampers from sponsors.

Most Disciplined Contestant  went to Edem representing the Volta Region.

Best Costume was snatched by Baaba from the Central Region

Most Eloquent performer was given to  Zeinab, the Northern regional representative.

The most difficult moment for the judges was selecting the Star Performer of the night. Eventually  Adom and Baaba had to share the spoils. Interestingly, this is the third consecutive time Adom from the Brong Ahafo region has won the Star Performer award.

The highest texter for the week was not left out, going home with a gas burner.

Delivering quality

Early on, General Manager of TV at Media General,  Beatrice Abbey promised viewers of TV3 that the station would continue to deliver quality service, something she described as “our nature and we will not waiver that”.

She recalled that it took the station hard work and dedication of staff to build such an enviable brand broadcasting from one of the best studios in Africa.

“We will continue to shape television experience in Ghana,” she pledged.

With performances from the Ghana Dance Ensemble and danceable songs from Too Late hit maker Adina, the night was shortened with excitement.
