For several years, many have shelved rapper C-Zar as one of Ghana’s least gifted rappers.
According to critics and sections of the public, his rap prowess are below par and they will not count him among the country’s best.
Even though people could easily rap along to his lines in the hit track ‘Araba Lawson’, his flow was tagged ‘kindergarten’ rap.
Born Augustine Osei Owusu, C-Zar, speaking in an interview on Showbuzz on 3FM with MzGee, rubbished his critics saying he is unique.
“Creativity is about coming up with something unique to get the attention you want…When I recorded my first song, my rap didn’t move people. They enjoyed the song but my name didn’t get to where I wanted. I came out with another one, the song became popular but my name wasn’t there,” he said.
C-Zar explained that ‘Araba Lawson’ “put me there because the rap became popular and was so easy to rap along but people labeled it kindergarten rap. Let me tell you that my rap is easy to rap along but literary, it’s very deep. Lyrically, my terms were funny.”
Stressing that his raps are very deep and his lines are very rich with literary devices, the ‘Mercy Lokko’ rapper noted that “the industry is funny…Those who will call me wack, I’m far better than them”.
“Those who claim to be better rappers, what feat have they achieved?” he quizzed.
