The Headmistress of KNUST SHS in the Ashanti Region has been interdicted.
Felicia Asamoah Dankwaa was asked to step aside for investigation to begin into the circumstances that led to the death of one final year student.
The student had suffered an ailment but his mates claimed teachers abandoned him to his fate.
They alleged that their plea to use the headmistress’s vehicle to transport the boy to a near-by facility was rejected.
They also told journalists on Tuesday night that teachers available at that time deliberately ignored the boy because they feared being infected with Covid-19.
It was after three hours that the boy’s father was called to the school, the narration went.
Following news of the death of the boy, the rest of the students started vandalising the school’s properties including the headmistress’s vehicle.
A statement issued by the Head of Public Relations Unit of the Ghana Education Service (GES) said the Ashanti Regional Director of Education is to take over the administration of the school.
“More details will be provided soon,” the statement signed by Cassandra Twum Ampofo concluded.
