…Adwoa Sarfo’s Forced Silence Reveals Party’s Dictatorial InclinationsThe ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken aggressive measures to silence one of its own, former Member of Parliament Adwoa Sarfo.

The party’s top echelon, visibly threatened by Sarfo’s outspoken dissent, has resorted to authoritarian tactics to prevent her from shedding light on the internal discord brewing within the NPP.
This recent incident has not only stirred apprehension about the democratic values within the party but has also exposed the long-standing authoritarian undercurrents of the NPP, which many believe have been lurking beneath the surface for quite some time.
Adwoa Sarfo, a former Deputy Majority Leader and Minister, has been a consistent irritant for the NPP’s leadership. Her unwavering stand and readiness to publicly denounce the party’s deficiencies have made her a prime target for the party’s higher-ups, who seem keen on suppressing any form of opposition within their ranks.
Reports indicate that Sarfo was slated to participate in an interview with Kessben FM, where she intended to disclose revelatory information about the inner workings of the NPP.

However, just as she was preparing to depart from her residence, a fleet of three V8 vehicles transporting senior party officials arrived and barricaded her path to the radio station.
This audacious move to obstruct Sarfo from expressing her opinions has been met with widespread censure from political analysts and the populace at large.

The subsequent decision by the party to refer her to the Disciplinary Committee has been widely viewed as a strategic move to quell dissenting voices and maintain a semblance of unity.
Sarfo’s criticisms of the NPP have been remarkably scathing. In her previous media appearances, she has fearlessly addressed the party’s internal schisms, mismanagement, and lack of answerability.
One of her most pointed critiques has been the NPP’s reluctance to engage in genuine self-assessment following their electoral loss in 2024.

Sarfo has vocally emphasized the necessity for the party to undergo a thorough review of its policies, decision-making processes, and leadership composition in order to regain the trust of Ghanaian voters.
Moreover, Sarfo has highlighted the party’s mode of stifling dissenting opinions, drawing parallels to the case of former General Secretary Justin Frempong Kodua, who was also silenced after openly bemoaning the NPP’s electoral setback.
The NPP’s forceful reaction to Adwoa Sarfo’s criticisms has raised serious concerns about the party’s adherence to democratic tenets.

By resorting to such coercive measures, the party leadership is conveying a chilling message to both its members and the wider public that disagreement will not be tolerated.
Political experts argue that the NPP’s actions undermine the fundamental principles of a robust democracy, where open discussions and the free flow of ideas are imperative.

The party’s move to refer Sarfo to the Disciplinary Committee has been construed as a blatant effort to stifle critique and maintain a facade of unity, even at the cost of inner responsibility.
As the NPP grapples with the aftermath of their electoral loss in 2024, the party finds itself standing at a pivotal juncture.

The decision ahead is unequivocal: they can either seize the opportunity for genuine introspection and reform or persist on the path of suppression and power consolidation.
The muting of Adwoa Sarfo serves as a stark reminder that the NPP’s leadership is more concerned with preserving its stranglehold on power than addressing the valid concerns of its members and the Ghanaian public.
