We thank God we lost by just 3-1 – Kotoko coach

Paa Kwesi Fabin is under pressure to churn out the results in Kotoko’s favour

Kotoko coach Paa Kwesi Fabin has admitted that his side deserved to lose at Anyinase and by a larger number of goals too.

Kotoko suffered a second loss in four days as new boys Karela United claimed another big scalp at their Anyinase home venue in the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors, who suffered a 0-1 reverse against arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in Kumasi on Sunday, lost 1-3 at Karela United.

Karela are unbeaten in 65 home matches across Division One and the Ghana Premier League.

Karela have now beaten both Hearts and Kotoko in that amazing home run and are third in the Ghana Premier League off the back of that in their first season in the top flight.

The story is markedly different for Kumasi Asante Kotoko who have now fallen six points behind the leaders AshantiGold after their second straight loss.

Pressure has begun mounting on coach Paa Kwesi Fabin to correct things at the club.

Things haven’t gone to plan as Kotoko have lost 5 out of 11 in the Ghana Premier league this term.

The man at the helm isn’t doing himself any favours.

After the Karela game, he basically threw his team under the bus and heaped chunks of praise on his opponent.

“I must give credit to Karela. They played well and have a very good side. They really dominated in the second half. They scored one goal in the second half and I think they could’ve scored more. But for the brilliance of our goalkeeper, we would’ve conceded more goals. We thank God that we lost by just 3-1,” he said.

This has infuriated a cross section of the Kotoko fans and calls have already begun to get him out.

Looking at the trigger happy track record of the Kotoko management, it wouldn’t be too long before Paa Kwesi leaves if the results keep dropping.
