The President of the Private Newspaper and Online Publishers Association of Ghana, (PRINPAG), Andrew Edwin Arthur, has issued a New Year message to all members, extending warm wishes for a prosperous 2025 and emphasizing the crucial role of the media as the fourth estate of the realm.
In his message, President Arthur commended PRINPAG members for their professional competence and high journalistic standards exhibited during the December 2024 general elections. He stressed the importance of the evolving relationship between media practitioners and the state for holistic national development.
Highlighting the need for fairness and inclusivity in interactions between state officials and the media, President Arthur urged the incoming government to avoid discrimination against any media house. He proposed the establishment of a unified media platform to transparently share government information with all media houses, aiming to promote equal access, collaboration, and trust within the media landscape.
PRINPAG called on the incoming government and institutional media handlers to engage with media associations in Ghana to forge a partnership for mutual gains and national development. This partnership is seen as crucial in addressing challenges facing the media industry and improving Ghana’s position on the World Press Freedom Index.
President Arthur concluded his message by commending PRINPAG members for their resilience and dedication to upholding journalistic standards. He encouraged unity and collective effort towards creating a vibrant media environment in Ghana in 2025.
