The nominated Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, has not relinquished his National Democratic Congress (NDC) membership, the party’s General Secretary has said. Rumours were that Mr Amidu, a founder member of the party, has resigned following his appointment as Special Prosecutor by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government. US President Donald Trump has shown no abnormal signs following a cognitive exam and is in excellent health, his White House doctor says. “I have no concerns about his cognitive ability or neurological functions,” Ronny Jackson said on Tuesday. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has scheduled an encounter with journalists on Wednesday. This will be the second time the president will face the press for questions after a similar session was held in July, 2017, six months after he assumed the presidency. He promised to make the encounter a six-monthly event. All the expatriate business representatives scheduled to appear before the Parliamentary ad hoc committee looking into allegations of the payment of monies to sit near President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at an awards event last year failed to show up on Tuesday. The business executives were expected to appear before the committee at 10:00 am but as of 11:30am none had turned up. Pope Francis has arrived in Chile on a visit overshadowed by child sexual abuse accusations against almost 80 members of Chilean clergy. Some priests have been convicted by the Vatican’s court, but protests against an alleged cover-up are expected during the pontiff’s three-day stay. The highlight of Francis’ visit will be an open-air Mass in the capital Santiago on Tuesday. The Pope will also meet victims of Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship. The Minister of the Brong Ahafo Region, Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, has dismissed assertions by Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, that he was behind last Saturday’s attack on him. Pupils in Tono Junior High School in the Kasena–Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region are exposed to a grave danger in their classrooms as they sit on stacks of  blocks to learn.
