The nominated Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, has not relinquished his National Democratic Congress (NDC) membership, the party’s General Secretary has said. Rumours were that Mr Amidu, a founder member of the party, has resigned following his appointment as Special Prosecutor by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government. US President Donald Trump has shown no abnormal signs following a cognitive exam and is in excellent health, his White House doctor says. “I have no concerns about his cognitive ability or neurological functions,” Ronny Jackson said on Tuesday. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has scheduled an encounter with journalists on Wednesday. This will be the second time the president will face the press for questions after a similar session was held in July, 2017, six months after he assumed the presidency. Pope Francis has arrived in Chile on a visit overshadowed by child sexual abuse accusations against almost 80 members of Chilean clergy. Some priests have been convicted by the Vatican’s court, but protests against an alleged cover-up are expected during the pontiff’s three-day stay.
