Undisputed former world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jnr has announced that he will be in Ghana next month. In a widely circulated video, the retired boxer says he will be in Ghana “the motherland” on June 15 & 16. The former five-division champion paid his first visit to the African continent in 2014, when he travelled to South Africa for a tour. He is expected to be in Ghana with The Money Team (TMT). Majority of Muslims across the world have begun this year’s holy month of fasting and prayers. The religious rite began on Saturday, May 27 and it is expected to end June 24. The head of the Ashanti Regional Police Command says his outfit has begun gathering information again on the eight members of vigilante group Delta Force who were recently discharged after aiding the escape of 13 other members from court. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Isaac Ken Yeboah expressed hope that witnesses will come out this time for evidence to be obtained against the eight. Healing Words Foundation, a US-based non-governmental organisation, recently donated a variety of literary items to paediatric patients at the FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital to help improve upon their reading skills. Approximately 150 books, ranging from non-fiction to reference books written in English and Amharic, were presented to the children, many coming from various countries including Ghana, Nigeria, and Ethiopia. The books were to help supplement the efforts of FOCOS Hospital in educating these children while they undergo treatment for various orthopedic conditions and disorders, sometimes staying at the facility for 3- 6 months.
