GOIL Company Limited has rectified the issue of under-delivering of products at two of its fuel service stations in Accra. A recent routine checks by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) revealed 10 fuel service stations in Greater Accra were under-delivering petroleum products from their pumps to customers, and consequently fined each of them 5,000 cedis. The government of Ghana intends to establish a new university in the country as part of reforms being made to tertiary education. An uncharacteristic auction of goats is expected to be conducted by the Ga West Municipal Assembly this afternoon (June 14) at Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region. The US military has released a video which it says shows Iran’s Revolutionary Guard removing an unexploded mine from the side of an oil tanker damaged in an attack in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday. US officials also shared a photo of the Japanese tanker, apparently showing the unexploded mine before it was removed. A Norwegian tanker was also damaged. The US accused Iran of being behind the mine attacks. Iran said it “categorically rejects” the allegation. The blasts came a month after four oil tankers were damaged in an attack off the coast of the United Arab Emirates.…

The two Canadian women who were rescued by the security agencies in Kumasi last Wednesday after they had been abducted from the Royal Gulf Club in Kumasi on June 4, 2019 have arrived safely in Canada. The two women, Lauren Patricia Catherine Tilley, 19, and Bailey Jordan Chitty, 20, left Ghana last Wednesday evening aboard British Airways flight BA78 to Heathrow Airport in London, the United Kingdom. Education Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh says government has no intention whatsoever to interfere in the management of tertiary institutions in the country. He said issues raised by some stakeholders that government intends to use the newly drafted Public Universities bill to take center stage in managing the affairs of public tertiary institutions, do not hold. The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has for the second time within the week, refuted claims that question papers for the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have been leaked. Some question papers have been popping up on social media, this week, as 517,332 of pupils across the country started writing the BECE from Monday, June 10.
