Kuapa Kokoo Cooperative Farmers and Marketing Union, Ghana’s foremost producer of ethical cocoa beans, has honoured Media General (TV3) for its dexterity in reporting the rural economy. A senior lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) is asking the High Court in Winneba to place an injunction on Friday’s election of the school’s Pro-Vice Chancellor. Dr. Frimpong Kaakyire Duku who is also the President of University Teachers Association of Ghana, UEW branch, in an affidavit in support of his suit want a declaration that the purported nomination of certain individuals to contest in the election of the Pro-Vice Chancellorship position “is illegal, null and void and of no legal effect”. A timely intervention by the Police Wednesday night foiled a planned robbery attack on some residents of Mankessim in the Central Region. Two of the seven suspected robbers who blocked the Mankessim-Samaria road in order to carry out their operation, have been arrested to assist in investigations into the case. They have been identified as Alex Gardner, 20 years and 23-year-old Cosmos Acquah. Police retrieved from them two knives, tramadol tablets, a kiss condom, one screwdriver, four nails and one mobile phone. Tema-based premiere learning institution, Delhi Public School (DPS) International, has organised a day’s ‘Cyclathon’. The aim of the ‘Cyclathon’ organised on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at the forecourt of the School’s campus and its environs was “to promote cycling for a greener environment and healthier life”. A 35-year-old man identified as Kojo Mensah has been arrested for attempting to commit suicide in the chamber of Parliament. The man from Kwesimintim in the Western Region had sat through parliamentary proceedings on Thursday, but just when the Speaker adjourned for the day, he got up from his seat and attempted to jump from the public gallery into the main chamber where the 275 MPs sit. Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo has ordered the closure of a district court in Accra. A statement issued by the Judicial Service Thursday explained the decision to shut down the Adjabeng District Court 2 was taken by the CJ  because it is “in a deplorable state and totally unfit for purpose”. The court, it said, has since the directive on June 7 ceased to operate.
