The World Economic Forum estimates that mental illnesses will account for more than half of the economic burden of disease over the next two decades – more than cancer, diabetes and chronic respiratory diseases combined. Board Members of Ghana Rugby Union, Ernest Hanson and Rafatu Inusah have organised a fun rugby competition between Kanda Community Boys and Cantonment Boys at the Horizon Special School. Twelve boys were divided into 3 teams, Conquerors, Cosmos and Hokmos. Cosmos won, followed by Conquerors and Hokmos. All teams were presented with medals and a trophy went to the winner. After seven months of being grounded, the Aayalolo vehicles under the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system are back on the road, but on a different schedule. Unlike the previous schedule, which made room for buses to operate throughout the day, the buses would now only operate in the peak hours every morning and evening. The move is to help sustain operations of the bus service. The BRT was introduced in 2016 with designated lanes but operations were grounded last November due to financial constraints which hindered fuel purchase for the buses as well as payment of staff and management. A 22-year-old trainee nurse is alleged to have been abducted and sexually assaulted by her ex-boyfriend at Sewfi-Bekwai in the Western North Region. The second-year nursing student of KAAF University who is on attachment at Greenshield Hospital, was said to be returning home from work Saturday when she was abducted by the ex-boyfriend and driven to a guest house for several rounds of sex. There has been a general increase in the number of candidates sitting this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE). From 509,824 in 2018, 517,332 are sitting the exams across the country. The exams started on Monday, June 10 with English Language and Religious and Moral Education. They are scheduled to end on Friday, June 14. According to statistics made available by the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), more girls have registered for the exams.
