Academic activities came to a halt after fire destroyed the JHS block of Ampayoo-Krofrom D/A School in the Ashanti region. The fire is reported to have gutted the structure around 2am Thursday. The fire ravaged three classrooms, a storeroom, and the headmistress office. Several items including a laptop computer, printer, textbooks and other valuable materials were completely destroyed. The over 150 pupils displaced looked stranded at the time the news team visited the school. Some demonstrators have been arrested after registering their displeasure over the deplorable nature of the new Dormaa-Kotokrom dual carriage road in Sunyani. The demonstration turned sour on Wednesday when some of the demonstrators became enraged and started attacking the police, who were at the scene to provide security. A night before the actual demonstration, the demonstrators burnt car tyres and blocked the road to show the seriousness of their action. The National Lottery Authority (NLA) in collaboration with the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) Secretariat and experts from overseas have offered training services to about 36 NABCO recruits at the premises of NLA on a technology transfer and assembling procedures for the solar-powered E-Kiosks.
