Prime Minister Theresa May’s EU withdrawal deal has been rejected by MPs for a second time, throwing her Brexit strategy into further confusion. President Nana Akufo-Addo has paid tribute to former chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Dr Kwabena Adjei, who died in Accra Tuesday, describing him as a friend but formidable opponent with strong opinions. Attorney General Gloria Akuffo has defended the over 67 million cedis paid to Construction Pioneers (CP) by the Mahama government in 2015 as judgement. Questions had been raised about the payment of the amount to the construction firm, with the Auditor General claiming it was done without recourse to Cabinet approval as was required at the time. Government says a total of 14,160 trained teachers from various Colleges of Education were posted by the Ghana Education Service in 2017, Education Minister Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh has told parliament. The figure, he said, was made up of 11,733 graduates from public colleges of education and 2,427 from the private colleges. The 76-year-old died Tuesday morning at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital where he had been seeking medical care for an undisclosed sickness that is said to have prolonged, an executive member of the NDC confirmed to 3news.com.
