Four-year-old Toby Apomuta Abotisum has been diagnosed with a condition called Pulmonary Atresia Ventricular Septal defect popular known as Hole in Heart. Young Toby needs a curative surgery to repair his defect, but doctors at the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital say the operation cannot be done in Ghana due to limited logistics, and that it ought to be done in India. An amount of $14,000 is needed for the operation, and this amount covers travel costs and other expenses totaling an equivalent of GHȻ 100,000. A prison officer at the Tamale Central Prisons, Cpl. Sackey Emmanuel Kwabena, is in the grips of the Northern Regional Police Command for possessing five wraps of substance suspected to be Indian hemp.  The suspect was arrested at the prison facility by two of his colleague officers, ASP Francis Weigam and Chief Officer Gilbert Guru, in the early hours of Monday February 4, 2019. Ten people including a baby have died in a fire at an eight-storey building in south-western Paris, fire service officials say. More than 30 people – including six firefighters – were injured. One person is in a serious condition. Fifty people were evacuated by ladders from the blaze in the upmarket 16th arrondissement. The Paris prosecutor says it may have been deliberately started. Walter Magaya earlier pleaded guilty to contravening the Medicines Control Act by selling an unapproved drug. Police arrested him in November, and seized a herbal drug which he said could cure people who had HIV and Aids. Zimbabwe has the sixth highest HIV prevalence rate in sub-Saharan Africa.
