The Atuabo Gas Processing Plant would be shutdown for planned maintenance works from 1st February 2018, the Ghana National Gas Company has announced. “This outage is consistent with other shutdowns planned by our upstream and downstream partners,” the company said in a statement on Tuesday asking gas producers, power consumers and the general public to take note. The shutdown will allow engineers at the plant to undertake routine maintenance on the facility to help improve the plant’s capacity as well as prolong its lifespan, the statement said. US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to keep Guantanamo Bay military prison open. Mr Trump announced the move in his State of the Union address. The decision reverses that of former President Barack Obama, who had said he wanted to close the controversial site “as soon as practicable”. The facility in Cuba has been used since the 9/11 attacks to detain what Washington calls “enemy combatants”, but only 41 prisoners remain there. US actor Mark Salling, known for his role in the TV series Glee, has been found dead near his Los Angeles home, his lawyer confirmed to the BBC.
