President Nana Akufo-Addo has revealed that his government is close to clearing all the debts owed contractors which he inherited from the Mahama-administration. “I have been urged to pay contractors, I am paying them. In 2017 nearly 1 billion cedis of which the government of Ghana provided 305 million and the road fund provided some 660 million of the 1.6 billion owed contractors was cleared,” he stated. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated his confidence in the Office of the Special Prosecutor to deal with corrupt government officials. Speaking at a media encounter in Accra, the President said the Office is expected to get rid of the fear of partisan prosecution among Ghanaians. There has been an oil spillage into the sea at Ada Ayigboe in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra Region on Tuesday evening, 3news.com has gathered. According to residents, a container was washed ashore in the early hours of Tuesday but disappeared later in the afternoon. They later found the sea water changing colour, suspecting that the container might have spilled some dirty oil. Resident said the polluted water started emitting some offensive odour in the area.
